Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Apologies for not writing for a long time. Been absent for a month due to a very hectic personal schedule but I'm back again! I am looking forward to sharing with you some exciting summer activities during my online absence. The summer season was a blast in spite of the sweltering heat. I can tell you that this year's summer was really hot that most of the time we stay indoors during the daytime. Nevertheless, we find ways to beat the summer heat. Summer 2022 Soaring temperatures began at the start of school summer vacation until the last week of August. I couldn't imagine people going outdoors unless you visit the mountains. Ideally,…

Today, I'm going to introduce to my readers some places that are underrated but worth visiting. So I started the off-the-beaten-path series to share with you what it's like to travel cheaply without breaking your wallet and avoid tourist traps. My family loves to explore hidden gems in Japan. While it's definitely cheaper and free to visit, these places are tucked away from the crowd and commercial tourism. The loosening of travel restrictions in Japan after two years is good news for the overall economy of Japan, however, let us still consider that Covid- 19 still exists and that we should always abide by precautionary measures. Expressways and national highways are filled with vehicles stuck in traffic and I could…

During the summer of 2021, my family decided to visit Nikko City in Japan for the second time. Our usual travel plans overseas are once again put on hold because of the pandemic. And as we are choosing which place to go which are not crowded, we consider the summer's humidity as well. That's why we choose Japan's top tourist destination Nikko City once again for its mild summers and picturesque surroundings. LAKE CHUZENJI Our trip to Nikko is not complete without visiting the city's magnificent lakes located in Okunikko--the center of Nikko National Park. The most popular is Lake Chuzenji which is located at an altitude of 1,269 meters. It was formed during the eruption of Mt.Nantai about 20,000years…

Lockdowns and quarantine While most of the world are shutting down and people mostly stay outdoors, here in Japan is the opposite. Life is near normal to support the economy. There are no military orders and most people go to their jobs and children go to schools. Big events are cancelled. But life should not always be work and work. We have to relax and play as well and the most common hobby to enjoy and be happy during this pandemic is travelling. Domestic travel boom Japanese people are accustomed to travelling internationally. Japanese passport ranks no.1 of the world so those who are travelling for leisure could feel the boredom of just staying at home or at their local…

Things to do in michi no eki Motegi   Michi no eki Motegi is not just a simple farmers market and road station. This place is like an attraction for both locals and visitors. This road station is conveniently located before the main town of Motegi and it is also the pathway of the famous Steam Locomotive of Moka railway. Not only a place for shopping for vegetables and dining but it has an entertainment area with an interesting stage and a children's park. Many events were held in this place before the pandemic such as concerts, fireworks display, and musicals. A simple stroll, picnic, and eating out is recommended here, and last but not the least, taking pictures of…

Mt. Amamaki in Mashiko town If you want to experience nature outside the bustling city of Tokyo, there are nearby towns which are accessible by car or train around 2 hours or more. One of the towns I recommend is Mashiko where I live. It is a sleepy town famous for its ceramic potteries and fashionable cafes and not only that, you can explore nature by hiking the mountains and hills nearby. One of those attractions is Mt. Amamaki, with an altitude of 533 meters above the sea. It is a moderate hiking trail patronized by both professional and beginner hikers. Acsending and exploring around There are a lot of options to climb and for beginners, I suggest to follow…

Mt. Fuji is referred to as the icon and symbol of Japan. If you plan to travel to Japan, make Mt. Fuji as one of your primary itineraries. For me,  I love travelling when time and finances allow and I am a believer in creating special moments and experiences to attain happiness in life. When I was living in Yokohama for a year, I thought visiting Mt.Fuji is a great chance because I am based originally in Tochigi prefecture which is about 2 and a half car drive from Tokyo. It means distance is nearer and travel is more affordable. HEADING TO MT. FUJI I am traveling with my family by car from Yokohama going through Gotemba City in Shizouka…

Michi no eki Mashiko Japan has a lot of roadside stations in rural areas. The purpose of this is to provide resting areas for motorists traveling long distances for a quick rest and break. But what makes this a special place to visit especially for foreigners is that you got to know the local town`s products, specialties and produce. Local farmers sell their pieces of stuff in michi no eki and some of the merchandise are organic and handmade which you cannot find in big business establishments in the city. Things to do and recommendations Michi no eki Mashiko was built last October 2106 along the road between the town of Mashiko and Moka. The building itself is eco-friendly and…
